Celtophilia St. Patrick’s Day Photo Contest!
Welcome back, we're glad you're here!

Everybody loves St. Pat’s Day, right? It’s the one day out of the year when the world comes together to celebrate the Patron Saint of Green Beer. Oh, no, it’s when we celebrate… well, something. For some of us, it is a day to remember where our ancestors came from (not that Bonnie and I ever forget.) For some, it’s the reason you bought that green shirt that hangs at the back of your closet 364 days out of the year. For a great number here in the US, it’s just another excuse to go watch a parade and have a drink or ten in the middle of the week. Tuesday, this year. Well, here at Celtophilia we’ve decided it’s time to start up another Paddy’s Day tradition. It’s the Celtophilia St. Patrick’s Day Photo Contest!
What We Want:
Your best photos of what makes St. Patrick’s Day great for you. Photos can be of whatever you like: friends, places, general mayhem and revelry, etc. as long as they somehow got you in the St. Patrick’s Day spirit.
When We Want Them:
Submissions are open from now (Sunday, March 15, 2009) until Saturday, March 21st, 2009. Please send photos to mike@celtophilia.com with the subject line “St. Pats Photos” to enter. Feel free to send multiple photos, up to four. Please include a short caption with each photo, along with your first name and hometown.
What We Intend To Do With Them:
Post them on Celtophilia, of course, and let people vote for which is the best! All the photos will be posted on Sunday, March 22nd, and voting will be open for 1 week, so you’ll have until March 29th to send all your friends, family members, coworkers, and complete strangers over to the site to vote for your photos.

What We’re Offering In Exchange:
Free Music! Dear friend of Celtophilia, Marc Gunn, has kindly donated a couple of copies of his “Victims of Irish Music” compilation and the recently released “Best of The Irish and Celtic Music Podcast” compilation. These two CDs are slammed full of the best music around, played by some truly awesome musicians. Plus, there are a few CDs lying around Celtophilia studios, so here’s what we’re going to do:
The #1 vote gatherer will receive copies of both the CDs mentioned above, plus a copy of “Another Nickel For The Pope,” last year’s amazing release by The Mighty Regis, a copy of “Pacifica,” by Amadan, plus a Celtophilia T-shirt (size large.) So, that’s FOUR great Celtic music CDs, and a fairly shabby t-shirt we hope you’ll wear around to promote Celtophilia! You couldn’t possibly hope for more than that, could you?
A Few Other Things
Please do try to keep the photos around or below a PG-13 rating. There are some things that Bonnie and I (and the rest of the Celtoverse) just don’t want to have to see! In general, if you go beyond the photo shown @ right, you’ve gone too far. Okay, maybe you could go a *little* further, but not much.
Huge thanks to the Celtowife, for getting dressed up in her newly devised St. Patrick’s Day attire and allowing me to take these pictures.
